- This seminar will explore a unique canon of American literature: works by Nobel laureates from the USA and Canada.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- Through the reading of poems, short stories, and plays by highly acclaimed authors, we will examine the European perception of American literature, the standard literary values of different decades in the 20th–21st century, and the intersection of politics and art.
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- Requirements Weekly readings, regular attendance, and active contribution. One presentation (20 minutes). Weekly feedback: Choose a short passage (i.e., the most meaningful / the most memorable / the most beautifully written / the wittiest / the strangest one) from each literary piece (at least one sentence/line). The chosen quotes should be handed in via MS Teams by 8 pm (20:00) every Monday. Final grade 50%: active participation + feedbacks, 50%: presentation Attendance As this is a seminar, attendance is required, and you may miss 3 classes without any consequences. You do not have to submit an assignment for the missed classes. If you do not show up for your presentation, you automatically fail the class.
