- The aim of the course is to explore the intricate relationship between metaphor and emotion, with a specific focus on the cultural variations in metaphorical expressions of different emotions. Through an examination of the fundamental emotions and their diverse manifestations across cultures, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of how metaphors shape our emotional experiences. The course also introduces students to the conceptual metaphor theory, providing them with a framework to analyze and interpret metaphorical expressions.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The present course will explore the relationship between metaphor and emotion, with a focus on how metaphors of different emotions vary across cultures. Students will learn about the basic emotions and their cultural variations, as well as they will be introduced to the conceptual metaphor theory. The course will also examine the cognitive and neural underpinnings of metaphorical thought, and explore the use of metaphor in relation to emotions in literature, film, and other forms of media.
