- It intends to be a survey course, an introduction to the history of the film and cinema with a special focus and emphasis on the British film and cinema from the beginnings till today.
- Course content
- We would like to examine the development of the British film industry at the production, distribitution and exhibition levels, study the works of the most influential British film directors of the 20th and of the early 21st century period by period. We shall watch and compare important scenes from various British films and discuss them in their historical, economic, social and cultural context.
- Assessment method
- Your mark/grade will be based on regular attendance, (3 absences are tolerated) and regular contribution to the discussions, plus on a 10-minute presentation in class and on the 2-3-page printed film review. At the end of the term there is a written exam, where you must write an essay about one of the discussed films and/or periods. Your final grade will be based both on your term-time and written exam grades.
