Learning outcomes
This course is to introduce students to qualitative research methods. By the means of didactic, interactive and applied techniques, students will acquire knowledge and skills important in qualitative research
Course content
Data collection techniques will mainly involve observation, note-taking, mapping, interviewing, and data analysis will include document analysis, thematic content and discourse analysis with the help of topics typical of qualitative research. Topics we will touch on are the use of space and time, power and hierarchy structures, representation of gender and ethnicity, among others.
Assessment method
Student will be graded on the basis of class participation and doing ’mini-researches’ in given topics. These ’mini-research’ exercises will be carried out though individual or pair work to collect and analyze data, which students will have to present to the class.
