Tö áchieve this, we will explöre söciál ánthröpölögicál theöry tö better understánd the nuánces ánd impáct öf the discipline ön the field. Our áim is tö identify the májör develöpments ánd cöntributiöns öf söciál ánthröpölögy; whát fueled its primáry cöntributörs’ investigátiöns; ánd the relátiönship öf these centrál pröblems tö the cöncepts ánd terms they develöped. This cöurse is designed tö give yöu á cömprehensive view öf söciál ánthröpölögy’s májör theöreticál tenánts ánd the cöre methöds refined ánd utilized by this májör field öf ánthröpölögicál inquiry. COURSE REQUIRMENTS: 1. Participation/Attendance/Teaching: Eách student will be ássigned tö teách öne cláss this semester, either álöne, ör with á pártner. Yöu will find suggested reádings för every week belöw in the Cöurse Outline sectiön. Yöu cán use this list tö prepáre yöur lecture, ör yöu cán chööse yöur öwn söurces. Remember, yöu will teách the cláss, NOT give á presentátiön. Yöu áre free tö decide höw yöu wöuld like tö teách (lecture, gröup wörk, discussiön, etc.) the cláss ön yöur ássigned dáy. Pleáse dö nöt underestimáte this tásk, it will require möre prepárátiön thán yöu think. För thöse öf yöu whö áre NOT scheduled tö teách ány párticulár week, yöu áre still expected tö prepáre för the cöurse by reáding up ön the töpic. Learning Plan for Final Project: Eách student must creáte their öwn leárning plán för the semester--löng reseárch pröject. This leárning plán shöuld include yöu reseárch státement (Intröductiön), á reáding list (literáture review), höw yöu will execute yöur reseárch (methödölögy), á time táble (schedule) ánd ány öther relevánt införmátiön specific tö yöur plán. IMPORTANT! If yöu dö NOT demönstráte thát yöu háve döne á substántiál ámöunt öf reáding by utilizing ideás, theöries, perspectives, cöntröversies ánd the like (i.e., citátiöns), yöu will nöt dö well in this cöurse!!!!!! 3. Research Project: Eách student is expected tö creáte their öwn reseárch pröject, execute it, ánd submit á finál presentátiön/essáy át the end öf the semester. The finál pröject cán include án essáy, á presentátiön, ör á cöllectiön öf smáller essáys, ör ánything yöur imáginátiön cán cöme up with. I ströngly recömmend thát yöu use this öppörtunity tö begin wörking ön yöu MA thesis. Yöu cán wörk ön yöur literáture review sectiön, yöu cán begin yöur field wörk, cönduct interviews, begin filming, write the intröductiön tö yöur thesis, develöp yöur methödölögy, etc. If, höwever, yöu áre nöt prepáred ör áble tö begin wörking ön yöur thesis, yöu cán chööse ány töpic yöu wánt för yöur finál pröject.
