Course content
Course Description: This seminar provides students with the opportunity to engage with contemporary political issues by inviting political actors and activists to the seminar for discussion. Through dialogue with these actors and critical analysis of their perspectives, students will explore the complexity and diversity of political processes in the contemporary world. The topics covered in the seminar will be determined based on the availability and interests of the invited political actors. Course Format: The seminar will consist of a series of sessions, each featuring a different political actor or activist who will present their perspective on a particular contemporary political issue. The session will begin with a presentation by the invited speaker, followed by a discussion with the students. The students will then write a critical analysis paper based on the session, and the papers will be discussed in the following session. Course Schedule: The topics covered in the seminar will be determined based on the availability and interests of the invited political actors. The seminar will be structured to allow for flexibility in scheduling and topic selection. Students should expect to engage with a diverse range of political issues and perspectives over the course of the semester. Overall, the seminar will provide students with an opportunity to engage with contemporary political issues in a dynamic and interactive way, and to develop skills in critical analysis, dialogue, and research.
Assessment method
Requirement and Grading: Attendance is critical to the success of this seminar, as it is a dialogue-based course that relies on active participation and engagement from all students. If students miss more than three sessions, they will fail the seminar, regardless of the reason for the absence. Please communicate with the lecturer in advance if you know you will not be able to attend a session. • Class participation and discussion: 50% • Critical analysis papers (2-3 pages each): 50%
