Oktatás célja

Module aim Art, as other cultural system, is inseparable from correlations of its social and cultural context. Furthermore, arts are manifestations of the human creativity to interpret and enjoy life. Consequently, analysing arts we get a great opportunity to understand more about cultural perception and thinking, aesthetics rules and values, social-economic backgrounds and markets of art in the societies.  Thus, the questions of this course: What is “beautiful” in a culture? What symbols do the artists of a community use in their art works? What cultural roles and social positions of artists are in the different societies? What sort of styles, aesthetic forms appear and become popular in the cultures? With interpretations of art works and their social correlations we analyse art works, performances, and art markets from the cultural anthropological perspective.

Tantárgy tartalma

Topics analysed during the semester/ schedule of the semester 1-2. What is beautiful? Who is beautiful? 3. Arts and Cultures 4-5. The Art of Myth - The Myth of Art 5-6. Cultural Significances of Interpretive Art 7. Personal Art – Art from the Perspective of Culture and Personality 8-12. Students’ presentations The students give a presentation individually or in groups about cultural phenomena related to one or more of the semester’s topics.

Conditions of the course completion 1, Regular class attendance is a course requirement. 2, Students will be expected to give a presentation individually or in groups about cultural phenomena related to one or more of the semester’s topics Requirement of the presentation: Every student must give a presentation containing an overview and introduction to the cultural anthropological problem/ problems of the presentation presenting case studies/examples finishing with conclusion from the cultural anthropological perspective of the interpreted problem Every student must also send the slides of the presentation to the professor before the end of the semester to this e-mail address: pappriki@gmail.com
