You can also ask Student Counsellors on the Trainings or reach them on studentconsult@inf.elte.hu Credits and credit hour options: 2 credit points Prerequisites: None Course Materials: Due to the nature of the class you will receive the course materialy week by week from the Mentor Teachers and Psychologist Trainers. Grading: Binary grading 1 (not eligible) – The student was present less than 75% of the time of the course, did not fill out the questionnaires or did not complete the assignments (CV and motivational letter). 5 (highly eligible) - The student was present greater than equal 75% of the time of the course and filled out the questionnaires and also completed assignments. Course Description: During this course, students from abroad are introduced into the Hungarian education system, and the teaching/learning habits at ELTE. In the frame of this course we develop the communication and learning skills of the English language students, which will critically contribute to their success at the university. In addition we help them in their social integration via international trainings. Since the efficient learning is greatly connected to the positive attitudes to the university courses, the course will help them to orientate better in Hungarian education system. Students will obtain capabilities on how to learn successfully and efficiently and how to orgainze their time better between their private life and studies. In addition the course will focus on community building in the group and it will highlight the importance and advantages of working in groups instead of studying alone. To accomplish this goal, we will do practical trainings and outdoor programs to facilitate the social relationships among the students Student Learning Outcomes: Knowledge Throughout the course the student acquires profound knowledge about system planning and project management. The student knows the special informatical means and methods of efficient professional communication. Skills The ability of professional communication on their specialized field. Cooperation in a team-based environment in the field of informatics and other professions. The ability to form and discuss authentic viewpoints about social, economic questions and specified topics of informatics. Development of communication, learning, time management and stress management skills. Expectations and Resources for Student Success: A Student is expected to be on time for the beginning of the class of the Preparation course for master studies and developing learning skills course. We ask for this to able to assess class presence and number of absences as well as giving a change to Students to get used to the Hungarian Higher Education System early on. Being present and taking active participation during the classes is expected as the class’s aim is to give information in general, reflect on the Students’ issues, questions and develop their skills in order to prepare them for a successful academic life. A student is also expected to be on time for the trainings of the course and be present on said trainings, which are held on four Fridays, throughout the semester. The dates are: We ask Students to be open and accepting toward others. Being an international student in a new country shows you new perspectives and gives you opportunities. The class’s aim is to get to know each other and reflect on students’ issues, questions. Each class consists of 2 hours (4x45 minutes). If a student is late 10+ minutes, from a class, the hour in which they are late, counts as an absence. 20 % You can be absent 25 % of the classes. This 25% counts for both the mentor classes and trainings, meaning you need to be present in 75% of both to receive a grade. In case you registered as a Student later than the start of the semester, please bring a Certificate. Attendance (being on time for the beginning of the Class and being present throughout the class): Trainings We expect you to turn on your camera in case of online classes. Each training consists of 4 hours (4x45 minutes). If a student is late 10+ minutes, from a class, the hour in which they are late, counts as an absence. 15 % You can be absent 25 % of the classes.
