- Oktatás célja
- The course offers an overview of the development of Roman architecture between the 6th century BC and the 5th century AD. After outlining the geographical, historical, and cultural context, the survey of the typical Roman public building types follows: the development, spread and main characteristics of the individual building types (forum, temple, basilica, baths, theatre, amphitheatre, circus, stadium, library, macellum and tabernae), as well as their place in the Roman town. Finally, building materials, technology and appearance used in Roman architecture will be explored, with emphasis on such achievements as concrete and vaulting.
