- Oktatás célja
- The subject contributes to the development of the following professional competences: Knowledge Students Know the functions of bibliographic control, i.e. able to manage the storage, organisation, access, retrieval, dissemination and preservation of information and resources, and provide resource description (both bibliographic description and subject access); use, run and develop retrieval systems and interfaces; design and deliver customised library and information services and products. Have an overview of information and communication technology and information architecture to determine the structure, design and flows of information, understand and analyse information flow and information systems, understand and facilitate the creation of information resources in a digital environment. Know the most important sources of literature, methods of knowledge acquisition and problem solving methods to meet the information needs of library science and other related disciplines. Skills Students Able to apply their knowledge effectively in certain areas of library work; in collection management, in information and document management, in information retrieval, and in providing information and document services, and other library services. Effectively process, arrange and apply new research achievements and innovations in their area of expertise. Able to review and manage both printed and electronic literature and databases of each disciplines, and are advanced at using library databases and at their maintaining tools. Attitudes Students Aim for critical thinking as a means of orienting themselves in the information society. Promote and respect the European, national, local, ethnic and religious identity, and the cultural identity of library users and acknowledge the preservation of these values. Autonomy and responsibility Students In in their field of expertise, take autonomously a proactive role in enhancing the positive image of libraries in society. Organise their work and the activities of the people under their management, with the autonomy, proactivity and responsibility appropriate to their position within the organisation.
