- Module Aims - To familiarize the students with existing technologies for the storage, management and retrieval of information and the different applications which they can be used for. - To provide the student with the skills to design and manage document applications using technological resources. - To provide the student with the skills to design and manage technological integration projects in libraries and information centres. - To provide the student with the skills to evaluate and select technological resources.
- Course content
- Module Subject Overview and applications of technologies employed in storage, management and retrieval of information in electronic form: Software; Hardware; networks. Information retrieval systems: Management of document databases; Management of OPACs; Integrated automation systems: Management of integration projects; Integrated Library systems Commercial bibliographic data: Management of collections; Management of local networks Information sources accessed via INTERNET – collect the sources of one small topic Multi-modal metadata Reusing knowledge in e-administration Technologies for semantic Web Personalising and adapting content Personalization of Web

- Requirement Essay - Min. 10 pages with 20 sources in printing and electronic form. Please cite the source according to the bibliographic standards (on the bottom of page). Presenting essay on the presentation day. Lecture should be about 20 minutes long.
