- This is a writing class with essay writing assignments both in class and out. The aim of the class is to look at what an essay is, what are the integral elements of it and how to put it together; furthermore,what the expectations of the academic community is so that the style of writing and the logic of the essays will be acceptable. Emphasis is placed on the difference between plagiarism and paraphrasing.
- Course content
- This class works as an introduction to American English Rhetoric and Writing Composition. Emphasis is placed on the academic communication skills necessary to function in the academic environment of a university, and to communicatie with professors and academic colleagues, as well as on composing material for formal communication.
- Assessment method
- Class Participation: 10% Peer Grading: 30% Papers (3, 1000 words each): 60% (20% x 3) If not more than 3 classes are missed the grades will be assigned as the following: 100 to 90 of total points = 5 89 to 80 of total points = 4 79 to 70 of total points = 3 69 to 60 of total points = 2
