- The seminar is a complementary follow-up course to the American Literature 1 lecture designed to shed light on formative periods and trends of early American literature as well as to track their unfolding developments spanning to the end of the 19th century. Your presentations and close-readings will inadvertently help create a workshop-type educational experience.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- Topics include: puritan beginnings, a retrospective view from the 19th c., American Gothic, transcendentalism & ratiocination, the American Dream, Civil War as trauma, racial issues, women writers.
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- It is required from students to read the assigned texts, bring their questions, be active in discussions, prepare a single presentation throughout the semester, and write a 4-6 pages long essay.
