- In American Culture 2, the sociologist’s view of America, that is, as a single society/entity will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on broad strokes, it does matter, and simply saying “well, not everyone is like that,” is not enough to dismiss the ideas mentioned in this class. Recent trends/movements within American society, especially as it relates to the upcoming election will be put under the magnifying glass.
- Course content
- This course will follow a wide range of topics week-by-week, including politics, class division, environmentalism, the media. These topics may be subject to change based on current event in the US.

- In-class participation: 35% - Homework: 15% - End-term exam: 50%

- Readings are a series of online articles (including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN) and various other media outlets, updated each semester.
