- This seminar attempts at examining the impact pop culture has on our cultural consumption patterns in a globalized context. While doing project work to unravel the respective networks of cultural associations informing each of our topics, we will be searching for answers to one single question. Why have youth, sub- and countercultures moved from resistance to incorporation?

- This course serves as an introduction to the academic study of American popular culture. It presents and overview of the possible meanings of the concept “popular culture,” and explores its various areas: mass culture and the culture industry, film, popular music, social media platforms and related phenomena, fan-culture, popular literature, the power of advertisements, popular culture and activism.
