- Course aim: The idea of medieval literature often stops at the world of the Round Table. In this course (knowledge of Old French is not a prerequisite), the world of the Middle Ages is often centred on the Middle Ages. The aim is to give you a taste of the medieval world through the joint and individual study, in class and at home, of 13th-century novels inspired by the myth of Tristan and Isolde. Methods used: communication of information, teacher communication and interpretative commentary, joint translations, reading of modern French texts. Competences: developing the ability to acquire knowledge, acquaintance with Old French basics and literary topos

- Assessment: active work in class, preparation at home, a written exam at the end of the semester (translation and analysis of an Old French text).
