- General description, main activities, classroom tasks Translation from Hungarian into French (theme) of texts of standard level B2/intermediate (the exact level, difficulty and length of the texts) published in the state-recognised language examination centre of ELTE ITK (Origó Nyelvvizsgszer), or. Translating texts on the topic of French country studies from French into Hungarian (version), analysing the grammatical and lexical difficulties of the texts, practising the structures important for sentence structure, examining and comparing students' translations, reflecting together on the linguistic phenomena in the texts. Students will be required to search for a topical French article from the written or electronic press on the World Wide Web at home at least once during the semester. They may choose one of the following two options: A) presenting/casting a topical extract from a French-language news report from their own computer; a detailed explanation of the subject and vocabulary of the extract/report (each student will provide their own technical background) or B) searching for a current news article in French from the written press on the World Wide Web at home. w Tasks to be carried out during the presentation: - After a thorough study, independent processing and extraction of a news extract or newspaper article in the target language of their choice, they are required to give a concise oral presentation (preferably written or drafted in advance) of about 5 minutes to their classmates. - Before the oral presentation, a small sheet of paper should be handed out with the key words/key phrases essential for the oral summary of the article, at least 20-25 typical words, phrases or colloquialisms. - In addition, the presenter should collect in advance the verb and adjective phrases, interesting colloquialisms, and stable expressions that occur in the article and present (define/explain) them to the group. A copy of the article is given to the teacher before the presentation. - Frequent viewing/listening to French public service media broadcasts, such as the FR2 news programmes on TV5 Monde/Europe or the programme 7 jours sur la Planete (and the accompanying tutorial exercises), or radio programmes such as France Info or France Culture, can be very helpful in choosing the topic. For the written press, we recommend Le Figaro, Le Monde, L'Express, Le Point, Le Nouvel Observateur or any other authoritative (non- tabloid) French-language newspaper. - Students can, of course, choose any general press text according to their interests. The following are some suggested topics: French public life, foreign policy, society, natural sciences, social sciences, modern technologies, environment, culture, arts, communication, leisure, sport, health, etc. - After the oral presentation, the difficult parts of the article presented will be translated and interpreted together, and the content of the texts will be briefly discussed.

- Assessment method
- - Two written tests (duration: 90 minutes): translation into French of an unfamiliar Hungarian text similar to those practiced (March 16) and translation into Hungarian of an unfamiliar French text similar to those practiced (May 4). 40% - 40% - One assignment: translation into Hungarian of a French article related to the student's field of interest and a brief reflection (half a page to three-quarters of a page) in French on the difficulties encountered during the translation. Deadline: May 6 (20%) Use of AI: in accordance with Dean's Instruction II/2025 (December 12) and Rector's Instruction 4/2025 (October 28).
