- Course content
- These three forms - poetry, drama and song - will be explored over time, with particular emphasis on their oral dimension. Particular attention will be paid to poetic form through the study of prosody, rhythm, musicality, versification and types of poem (rondeau, ballad, sonnet, etc.). Emphasis will also be placed on the emergence of forms and their deployment in different periods. The cross-over between the arts (for example, the comedy-ballet, opera, etc.) and the transition from one art to another will be explored, as will the setting of poems to music (those of the Renaissance or the 19th century, etc.).
