Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to improve Hungarian conversational skills. Great emphasis is placed on demonstrating authentic language, acquiring the phrases, expressions, and structures of the spoken language, as well as developing pragmatic competence. Students are exposed to various cultural, and social topics, which provide an opportunity for them to express their opinion and disagreement. Meanwhile, students improve their ability to practice argumentation skills, as well as expand their vocabulary of the sequential topics.   Knowledge Students have an understanding of the adequate level phrases, expressions, and structures of the spoken language know the ways of expressing their opinion are informed about the methods and evaluation of the linguistic interpretation of Hungarian texts and cultural phenomena know methods for expanding their vocabulary of the sequential topics Skills Students have conversational skills that enable them to carry out tasks in their academic courses have conversational skills that enable them to do the assignments in their academic subjects are able to interpret the genre-diverse texts in Hungarian and the related cultural phenomena have the ability to improve their communication skills Attitudes Students are open to the acquisition of new knowledge and skills aim for continuous self-education, including through available technologies are open and curious about cultures where English is spoken Autonomy and responsibility Students are committed to hard work are able to study autonomously are ready to make sensible decisions regarding their studies through continuous self-monitoring. take responsibility for their own work, self- development, achievements and failures
Course content
Developing vocabulary and speaking skills appropriate to the language level.
Assessment method
Continuous evaluation of oral communication: classroom-work: 30%; homework during the semester: 30%; oral end-of-semester test and/or presentation: 40%.  The use and application of AI is included in the learning and teaching process. The students’ awareness of the AI’s usage are also developed within the classroom, together with the necessary competencies. AI is present in both classroom and homework to support skill development. Its use is also recommended for language learning. It is also allowed in the preparation of the end-of-semester presentation.
