Oktatás célja
Knowledge: - The student completing the class is informed about the most important phenomena of medieval and early modern Hungarian literature, the structure, and generally accepted characteristics of the periods, and has grounded knowledge of the most important texts and authors of the old Hungarian literary tradition. - By the end of the course, students will gain insight into the questions connected to the research of the 10-16th-century literary tradition, he/she becomes acquainted with the methods of analysis and interpretation of the field, and the basic technical terms of his fields. - The student will be familiar with the most important handbooks of studying the history of medieval and early modern Hungarian literature. - The student should know the meaning and formation of the concept of old Hungarian literature. Skills: - The student understands the role of the early centuries of Hungarian literary tradition in the construction of national identity discourse and he/she places these phenomena in European context relevant to his/her field of expertise. - The student can use academic and pecialized libraries. - The student can carry out independent research using publications on Hungarian literature. Attitudes: - The student understands the literary phenomena of old Hungarian literature, and understands their historical and social determination and variability. - The student consciously represents the technical language and communication norms of literary history, and conveys the thinking of literary science in relation to old Hungarian literature. Autonomy, responsibility: - The student develops a historically and globally coherent individual position that promotes self-awareness and the development of his/her environment. - The student is responsible for his/her written texts, and he/she is aware of the potential professional judgment and ethical implications of their linguistic and literary contents.
Tantárgy tartalma
The lecture introduces the history of art, literature and literary styles to students beginning their studies. The discussion covers the problems of periodization, basic questions and aims of literary scholarship, as well as the characteristics of early medieval Hungarian literature. The lectures also includes the issues of historical changes to the concept of literature, the methodology of literary studies, and the most important fields of study.
