Oktatás célja
Knowledge: - The student completing the colloquium, is informed about the most important phenomena of the Baroque Hungarian literature, their articulation, generally accepted characteristics, and has grounded knowledge of the most important texts and authors of the old Hungarian literary tradition. - Until the end of the colloquium, the student will gain an insight into the literary tradition of the 16-18th century. He/she becomes acquainted with the methods of analysis, and interpretation of the field, as well as with the basic terms of early modern literary history. Skills: - The student understands the role of the early centuries of Hungarian literary tradition in the construction of national identity discourse and places these phenomena in European context relevant to his / her field of expertise. Attitudes: - The student understands the literary phenomena of the old Hungarian literature and understands their historical and social determination and variability. - The student consciously represents the learned professional language and communication norms, and authentically conveys the thinking of literary science in relation to old Hungarian literature. Autonomy, responsibility: - The student develops a historically and globally coherent individual position that promotes self-awareness and the development of his/her environment. - The student is responsible for his/her written texts, and he/she is aware of the potential professional judgment and ethical implications of their linguistic and literary contents.
Tantárgy tartalma
The lecture is a detailed course on the influential historical eras defining literature from the late Middle Ages through the Renaissance to the final third of the 18th century, including their base on European social history and philosophy and influence on art and stylistic history. By describing certain authors and genres, it gives an overview of the Hungarian literature of the covered eras both from the author’s and the audience’s point of view. The colloquium focuses on an overview of works required to read. The syllabus emphasizes the canonical importance of the writers. Significant authors of the period: János Rimay, Miklós Zrínyi, István Gyöngyösi, Ferenc Faludi.
