- The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with the main phonological rules of Dutch and the grammatical properties and usage of the Dutch verb, thereby promoting conscious, correct language use.
- Course content
- Topics: Lesson 1. Introduction Lesson 2. The sounds and phonological rules of Dutch Lesson 3. Pronunciation exercises Lesson 4. Pronunciation exercises Lesson 5. Grammar as a linguistic discipline. Components of grammar. Lesson 6. Types of verbs: nouns, link verbs and auxiliary verbs. Lesson 7. Auxiliary verbs of time, of aspect, of passive voice, of modality, of causality and for qualifying the predicate. Lesson 8. Infinitive constructions after auxiliary verbs and other auxiliary verbs with or without to before the infinitive. Lesson 9. Temporal and modal meanings of the would tenses. Separable and inseparable compound verbs. Lesson 10. Transitive (transitive) and intransitive (intransitive) verbs. Reflexive verbs. Impersonal verbs. Unconjugated verb forms. Lesson 11. Finite and infinite (nominal) forms of the verb. Formation and use of the nominal forms. Lesson 12. The passive voice. (Sentences with er. Sentences with auxiliary verbs.) Lesson 13. The modes. Other (grammatical and lexical) ways of expressing the content of the imperative and conjunctive. Stylistic variants.

- Criteria for a mark: - maximum of 3 missed classes per semester - writing of all tests Evaluation: written through 3-4 tests spread over the semester
