- To focus on the practical application of translation as an interdisciplinary discipline. Students will further develop their skills in the practice of translation conversion operations and the use of translation, monolingual and synonym dictionaries in the translation of different types of texts. The aim of the unit is to examine how language works in translation.
- Course content
- Each week, a short text is translated, selected according to difficulty, genre and translation problems. Three basic types of activities are carried out in the class: analytical revision of student translations, text analysis in preparation for new translations, and mixed exercises to develop translation skills. In the seminars, the students will jointly analyse and critique the text they have translated, focusing on the typical conversion operations.
- Assessment method
- • Regular, active participation in classes (maximum 3 absences) • Translation of published texts by the specified deadline • Students receive a mark for the "exam translation".
