- a) Knowledge: Students know the rules of the spoken German language, its variants and registers. Knowledge of the different communication strategies used in German culture (informal conversation, exchange of information and opinions, argumentation, elements of formal communication, public speaking). Knowledge of German language, culture and public life. b) Skills: Students can understand standard German-language radio and TV programmes and films with almost no difficulty, and can report back on their content, draw conclusions and comment on opinions. Can also apply communication strategies typical of German culture (informal conversation, exchange of information and opinions, argumentation, elements of formal communication, speaking in front of an audience). Can express him/herself fluently and linguistically correctly in general and specific oral interactions, with pronunciation and intonation understandable to native speakers, and express his/her intentions clearly. Can use language flexibly and effectively in a variety of social or professional contexts. Express thoughts and opinions accurately and relate them to other speakers. Ability to develop knowledge independently, using individual and organisational resources in a conscious way. c) Attitudes: He is committed to developing his oral communication skills and strives to use his knowledge creatively. He is aware that there is no such thing as perfect language skills and that our language skills need constant improvement, especially in foreign languages. d) Autonomy and responsibility: The student is aware that language is a window on the world, a window into other cultures, ways of life and ways of thinking. He/she understands that this opportunity is also a responsibility. It is ready to put its language skills and its oral communication competences at the service of the continuous development of its personality.
- Course content
- Students will practice listening comprehension and the use of expressive devices typical of different oral communication strategies by role-playing speech situations (simulating a debate, holding a speech, etc.) using examples from current news and debate programmes and films in the German-language public media.
