- The aim of the seminar is the recognition and acceptance of cultural and societal characteristics and differences, as well as the elaboration and acquisition of relevant strategies. The students will be able to identify and critically analyse the reasons for the existence of clichés concerning individual countries and societies individually and in group, as well as to reflect upon their own societal and cultural environment. Knowledge: The students have knowledge about the German-speaking cultures, they know the system of their historical, political, social and economic contexts. They have knowledge of their intellectual and artistic strands. They know the geographical features of the German-speaking regions. Skills: The students are able to interpret the cultural phenomena of the German-speaking regions and their historical context. They are able to develop their knowledge consciously and autonomously. Attitudes: The students aim at receiving and processing a range of varied information about German-speaking countries. They aim to learn about the diversity of the German-speaking countries and of Europa and to continuously develop their knowledge. Autonomy and responsibility: The students form an individual, historically and politically coherent viewpoint that serves their own development and that of their surroundings. They take responsibility for their individual and collective professional development and aim at establishing their professional awareness.
- Course content
- The seminar offers an overview of the history, cultural history, the political, social and cultural life and institutions of the German-speaking countries.

- Seminar grade: active participation in classes, presentations, essays, a written final or oral test
