- a) Knowledge: The student will gain an overview of the main poetic (lyrical) genres of German literature, their development and historical changes through the study of the main literary periods and poetic approaches, and the analysis of works and works by authors of outstanding importance. The student will thus gain an overview of the established procedures for the reception of poetic (lyrical) texts in German, the professionally accepted contexts and methods of analysis and interpretation, and the terminology. b) Skills: in addition to broadening and deepening knowledge of historical, literary and cultural history, the interpretation of German-language lyric texts, their historical-poetic embeddedness and changes, an introduction to the literature on them, an understanding of fundamental professional issues in the field of literary and cultural studies, the development of interpretative reception skills and interpretative skills. c) Attitudes: Openness to genuinely communicating and disseminating the general way of thinking and basic features of the practical operation of their profession. Intention to get acquainted with, accept and genuinely communicate the professional and technological developments and innovations in their field of study or work. Ability for self-education as a means of attaining professional objectives. d) Autonomy and responsibility: Relation on professional guidance in thinking over general and specific professional issues and in elaborating them by using given sources. Working autonomously, subjecting their activities to critical review.
- Course content
- The main periods in the history of German literature from the early modern period to the present day; the characteristics of German poetry; the development, characteristics and historical variations of the poetic (lyrical) genres; the formal variations of German poetry from Martin Opitz's metrical reform onwards; the cognition and recognition of rhetorical devices.
