- Knowledge: the student should know the historical and genre variations of German prose, the basic concepts and methods of narrative analysis. They should be familiar with the specific features of each period in the history of prose, with changes in the literary canon, and be able to consult the literature. Ability: to identify different types of texts, to know the specific features of each period in the history of prose and to be able to place works in a given historical context. be able to grasp the current relevance of the texts analysed and to reflect on the literature relating to each work. Attitude: open to the acquisition, application and reflection of knowledge. autonomy and responsibility: interest in German-language prose literature and openness to its didactic application and transmission in public education.
- Course content
- The lecture introduces the interrelationship between work and period, narrative tradition and innovation, fictional and factual narrative, and the authors included in the NAT (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Thomas Mann, Franz Kafka) by means of a detailed analysis of a work, divided into different periods, genres and styles. In addition to and in relation to the analysis of literary works, the lecture will also seek to demonstrate the everyday and universal cultural significance of narrative.
