knowledge: A deeper knowledge of literary and cultural history, sensibility for literary problems, critical reading of historical sources, competence of understanding of professional texts. Have a usable language knowledge of at least B2+ level. skills: Development of critical thinking, acquisition of methods of literary studies. Able to communicate national culture in the target language. Able to mediate between cultures and to develop intercultural competence. attitude: Improving of cultural sensibility. Improving the culture of debate (in a foreign language) and of the cooperation with fellows. autonomy and responsibility: Open towards cultural problems. Integrates the acquired methods and pieces of information in his or her individual opinion.
Course content
The aim of the course, which mainly works with a comparative method, is to give a wide overview of the history of Italian literature at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, of the literary and philosophical tendencies of this period, of its important authors and important works, and the theoretical questions arising in connection with all these topics. As it is a seminar, the aim is that students learn how to approach, problematize, discuss and elaborate a given literary text, the oeuvre of an author, a tendency, a phenomenon.
