- Knowledge Students have B2 level knowledge of Portuguese. Students shall be able to use words, phrases and grammatical structures learnt in writing and in speech. They are familiar with the world of everyday life and civilization of Portugal. Skills Students shall be able understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialisation. Students shall be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Students shall be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. Attitudes Students are interested in the Portuguese language and culture. They shall seek to improve their general knowledge of Portuguese and to this end they shall use the latest IT and communication equipment. They shall be open to new language phenomena. Autonomy and responsibility Students shall take an active part in the course, preparing their home assignments in time. They shall ask the teacher the questions that arise during their studies and integrate the answers into their knowledge. They take responsibility for their achievements and failures.
- Course content
- The course develops the four skills (comprehension of written and spoken texts and producing written and spoken texts, respectively) in a balanced way. The curriculum of the term includes lessons 10-12 of the textbook entitled Português em Foco 4, Lidel, Lisboa, 2016, written by Luísa Coelho, Carla Oliveira and João Malaca Casteleiro.
- Assessment method
- Seminar (gy5). Students shall be given their grades on the basis of their half-term and end-term papers, and the quality of their classroom work.
