- Knowledge: knows the history of the European Union; has an overview of EU institutions; knows how EU institutions function. Skills: understands decision-making mechanisms; understands related issues across the various EU activities. Attitude: open to professional novelties; has critical thinking skills and can critically analyse the working conditions of translators; open to professional novelties and continuous professional development; boasts lifelong learning skills. - Course content
- History of the European Union, its institutions and mechanisms; Europeanness as a historical concept, the European development model; unification processes; the creation of the European Community, the process of integration; EU institutions and the decision making mechanism; community law, legal harmonisation; the EU’s foreign and security policy, the European security model; the evolution of the EU’s justice and home affairs policy; antiterrorism action plans; Common Agricultural Policy (CAP); financial and monetary integration; regional policy; social and cultural Europe.
