- Knowledge: has a perfect command of the A language; has an excellent command of the B language; knows the basic principles of interpreting technique; knows the basic principles of sight translation; knows interpretation competence; has a general knowledge of the interpretation process. Skills: can carry out interpretation of five-minute-long oral speeches taking notes; can carry out sight translation; uses note-taking techniques and strategies automatically; produces equivalent speeches in the B languages that respect linguistic rules, structure and language use of the given language and the terminology of the subject area; selects and uses the correct interpretation strategy; interprets texts of different genres in a precise way taking into account cultural differences. Attitude: open to professional novelties; open to professional and methodological developments which increase the translator’s efficiency; adapts to the changing professional environment and working conditions; has critical thinking skills and can critically analyze the working conditions of translators; has a critical attitude towards professional processes and their own professional performance; their professional activity and career are characterized by creative problem solving; open to professional novelties and continuous professional development; boasts lifelong learning skills. Autonomy and responsibility: has the knowledge, skills, expertise and experience to act as an autonomous professional; represents the professional and ethical principles of the profession; boasts professional awareness; adheres to the ethical rules of the profession; treats confidential with discretion; uses documents they have access to in a responsible way.
- Course content
- Consecutive interpreting of 5-minute long speeches from the A into the B language; developing note-taking techniques; the role of memory and note-taking in consecutive interpreting; note-taking exercises; targeted vocabulary development in areas relevant in interpreting; further development of sight translation skills; situated interpretation practice; grasping speaker intent in various interpreting situations and speech types; interpreting 5-minute-speeches in the consecutive mode with note-taking within a given timeframe; condensation, gisting, improving tempo.

- final exam (interpretation) and continuous evaluation of home and classroom assignments
