Learning outcomes
The goal of the course is to acquaint the students with literary, folklore and more general cultural semiotic theories and their antecedents, which were elaborated by famous theorists within the framework of text analyses, and illustrated by interpretations of literary works/cultural texts.
Course content
Complex thematic units and problem blocs: I. The Concepts of Literature, Interpretation/Reader, Literary Work II. Literary Components and General Peculiarities of the Literary Text – Semiotic Conceptualization III. From the History of Literary Semotics: From Formalism to Semiotics IV. Theory – Analysis
Assessment method
Five-level written or oral exam.
