Learning outcomes
The aim of the course, beyond a strictly historical introduction (the Romanisation of Gaul and the consequences of the Frankish conquest), is to present the basic trends in the phonetic, morphological, syntactic and semantic changes of French, as well as the cultural and historical background of the language, from the Old French period to the emergence of Classical French. It also aims to present and analyse the main linguistic monuments.
