Introduction to sociolinguistics - Basic concepts - The concept of " error " - Stenderd and non-stenderd - The linguistic and the social variable - Language and dialect - Regional and social variation: the French suburban/suburban language (français contemporain des cités) - Language and gender - Code change - Pidgin and Creole languages - Introduction to sociolinguistic research
Assessment method
Practical grade based on class work, optional small lecture or seminar paper to be submitted at the end of the semester.
