- Oktatás célja
- The academic investigation and the management of cultural heritage is one of the international professional scenes where English is an indispensable working language. This seminar aims to teach students the most important concepts and expressions used in English-language contemporary heritage discourses. It helps students understand complex texts, a requirement at other courses of the MA program drawing on scholarly works published in English. Each student develops his/her command of English according to their initial level of learning and, while reading academic papers and holding presentations, they benefit from the seminar both in an academic and linguistic sense.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The course adopts an English-language manual used in cultural heritage studies university programs internationally, a volume which also serves as a preparatory insight into this particular field of learning for students entering the program. A selection of the exercises appearing in the manual are taken for preparing individual classroom presentations. In a second phase of the seminar, students work with more complex texts, with English-language standard setting instruments, including charters and recommendations, and a World Heritage nomination dossier. Building a vocabulary of key terms required in cultural heritage expertise will enable students to attain international working experience.
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- Practice grade. The basic frame for evaluating student performance of the course determined by the university's code of conduct. According to this document, the instructor can determine the means of evaluation of the course depending on the nature of the field of knowledge and skills presented at the course. A practice grade usually takes the form of an evaluation based on written and/or presented works related to the student's work at a seminar individually or as a member of a student team.
