- Oktatás célja
- The course aims to process one of the defining and independent areas of cultural heritage, the topic of industrial heritage. Industrial heritage focuses not only on industrial buildings (the physical environment) and the issue of their preservation but also includes the field of the entrepreneurial and industrial employee, engineering and labour heritage (knowledge, tradition), i.e. the intellectual heritage of the industrial past. Through the topic of industrial heritage, students can understand the social consequences and significance of industrial production and learn about the present and future of the usability of industrial heritage sites or the opportunities for industrial heritage tourism.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The processing of the topic of industrial heritage starts from the basic concepts (industrial heritage, industrial archaeology). It is followed by the methodology developed for the management of industrial heritage, emphasizing the importance of the community in the management of industrial heritage. The phenomenon of the industrial museum and industrial heritage tourism is discussed separately. As part of the course, students also learn about the main features of Hungarian industrial history in the 19th and 20th centuries, and finally, they can deepen their methodological and historical knowledge by getting to know international and Hungarian industrial heritage sites. Through the case studies, the historical aspects of the research, the possible institutional and social actors, as well as the social (e.g. identity), economic (e.g. tourism), and cultural (e.g. entrepreneurial culture) significance of the given location are outlined.
