Course Topics Part I: Introduction to Python Notion 1: Introduction to the Language Basics: +, -, *, **, =, ==, %, print Variable types: int, float, str The len() function for strings Notion 2: Conditional Statements if, elif, else Notion 3: Loops while and for loops Notion 4: Lists Notion 5: Functions   Part II: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Notion 6: A Brief History of Artificial Intelligence Comparison between human intelligence and artificial intelligence Notion 7: Proper Use of Artificial Intelligence Notion 8: Applying Artificial Intelligence to Programming in Python   III. Evaluation and Grading There will be two assessments: First assessment (E1): Midterm Exam Format: Live online oral examination in Python programming Duration: 10–20 minutes The student will be required to solve one or two programming exercises in Python and present the solution orally. General and/or specific questions related to the exercise and to the course content will be asked. Grading (out of 20): Programming exercises: 9 points Questions and explanations: 8 points Quality of oral communication: 3 points   Second assessment (E2): Final Group Project Format: Group project presentation Topics will be agreed upon later with the students. Grading: out of 20   Final Grade The final grade (out of 20) will be the maximum of the following two calculations: (E1+E2)/2 0.7×E1+0.3×E2 Bonus points may also be added to the final grade, based on class participation and active involvement in solving exercises during the sessions.  Language of Assessment Examinations are usually conducted in English, but students may request to be assessed in French. Conversion to the ELTE Grading System: Score (out of 20) ELTE Grade 0 – 9.99 1 (Fail) 10 – 11.99 2 (Sufficient) 12 – 13.99 3 (Satisfactory) 14 – 15.99 4 (Good) 16 – 20 5 (Excellent)  NB: All information provided here is indicative and may be subject to slight modifications depending on contextual or pedagogical needs.
