- The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the use of the German language in business communication situations. These skills are indispensable in business communication. Knowledge: Students will have a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the typical written and oral, scientific and public, popularizing genres and contexts of their field. They know the research methods with the help of which the deeper connections of German language, literature and culture can be understood and explained. Skills: They have the ability to critically evaluate the current research and scientific activities in the field of literature and linguistics, as well as in interdisciplinary fields. In German, they can communicate effectively according to the expectations of the age, and are able to present information, arguments and analyses to professional and non-professional audiences from various aspects at a high level. Attitude: They are eager to deepen and develop their professional and linguistic knowledge. They are open to approaching their chosen field in an interdisciplinary way. They stand for the Hungarian and European values, the importance of cultural, religious and social diversity with a conscious and critical attitude. Autonomy, responsibility: They strive to be always thoroughly informed and constantly keep their knowledge at a high level. They consciously reflect on their own historical and cultural embedding.
- Course content
- The following topics will be dealt with: the subject-related technical-lexical differences between the three German-speaking countries, the textual differences regarding text type and text interpretation between the three German-speaking countries, negotiation conventions in German and Hungarian, para- and non-verbal factors, culture-specific values/attitudes, culture: contrastivity, standard, dimensions, conflicts and misunderstandings in communication, intercultural management, presentation and discussion of case studies. The course is interdisciplinary in nature; linguistic, sociolinguistic, sociocultural, historical, literary, political, educational, and other issues are addressed in the context of interculturality.
