- Aim of the course: Knowledge Students will learn the synchronic and historical phonetics and varieties of the four main languages of the Iberian Peninsula. Skills The students will be able to compare the linguistic phenomena of the Iberian-Romance languages. They will be able to produce words and structures of other languages different from Portuguese, knowing the phonetic correspondences between the languages. Attitude The course aims to stimulate students' interest in Romance languages. It encourages students to be aware of the small differences between languages. Autonomy and responsibility The interactive course allows students to present their own examples or linguistic experiences. Once they have grasped the linguistic concepts, students are able to express their opinions about language in a more autonomous way. They will be able to apply the criteria they have learnt to the language learning process.

- Course content: 1. Vocal systems 2. Changes in the Latin vocalic system, medieval systems 3. Phonetic phenomena: prosthesis, epenthesis, assimilation, dissimilation 4. Tonic vowels, metaphony 5.
