- The course provides an introduction into the main theoretical approaches to Brazilian and Portuguese cultural identity and analyzes the most relevant texts on the question of national identity from the XXth century. - Course content
- During the course, we will deal with three main theoretical approaches to Brazilian and Portuguese cultural identity, namely lusotropicalism, anthropophagy and the epistemological theory of the South. In light of everything, the course undertakes to analyze the texts of three key authors - Gilberto Freyre, Oswald de Andrade and Boaventura de Sousa Santos - and to interpret the theoretical basic positions outlined in them, keeping in mind their connection to the international narratives of colonialism and post-colonialism.
