Learning outcomes

Learning objectives: Knowledge: knows the basics of business and economy needed for translation. Skills: familiar with knows the major macro and microeconomic processes; has an overview of the various economic systems; understands issues related to the banking system, social security and exchange rates. Attitude: open to professional novelties; has critical thinking skills and can critically analyse the working conditions of translators open to professional novelties and continuous professional development; boasts lifelong learning skills.   Autonomy and responsibility: has the knowledge, skills, expertise and experience to act as an autonomous professional; represents the professional and ethical principles of the profession; boasts professional awareness.

Course content

Course content: Basics of Business needed for the translation of economic texts. 1. Micro and macroeconomics; 2. Classification of economic systems; 3. Companies on the international markets; 4. Macro revenue indices; 5. The history of the banking system; 6. Financial leasing; 7. Budgetary policy, tax systems, 8. Social security systems; 9. Financing economic policy, public expenses; 10. The Hungarian Treasury, international financial institutions; 11. Exchange rate systems; 12. Current issues of international and national economic policy.
