Learning outcomes
In Economics I, we covered the basics of microeconomics.  This course has two parts.  The first deals with the fundamentals of macroeconomics, the second part returns to microeconomics to look at more advanced topics. In the macro half, we will learn how to interpret and calculate the most important macroeconomic indicators. Then, we look at national saving and investment, the financial system, and the functions of money in the economy. Finally, we study aggregate markets, and learn about the potential aims and tools of economic policy.  In the micro half, we will learn about the theory of the firm, consumer choice, market failures, and public goods.  This course will be conducted 100% in English.

Assessment method
This is a 6-credit course consisting of 12 lectures, 8 seminars, and 3 videos.  In the lectures and videos, students learn the main theoretical knowledge and skills, while in seminars students will enhance and deepen their knowledge by solving problems and discussing case studies relating to the material learned in the lectures and videos.   I will communicate with the class via Moodle announcements.  Make sure to check the Moodle announcements regularly. The three 30-point midterm tests will be scheduled centrally by GTK and will be administered in the exam center.  There will be 2-4 opportunities to earn up to 10 total additional points through unannounced quizzes during lectures and/or seminars.  Midterm points and any additional points will be added together to determine if you will be offered a preliminary course grade and if you will be offered an opportunity to take the final exam.  I will follow the GTK standard grade cut-offs when determining grades and final exam eligibility.  No additional extra credit will be offered.
Bibliography
The overwhelming majority of the course will follow Mankiw (2021) Principles of Economics, 9th Edition, Cengage (other editions are fine, but all chapter numbers refer to the 9th edition). This is the same book is used for ECON I.  Hereafter referred to as Principles.  This book is offered in four other versions of this book which cover subsets of these 36 chapters.  Depending on which version and edition of the book you acquire, the chapter numbers will vary.  A breakdown of the chapter number differences between each version of the book is posted on Moodle.  A common version is called Essentials of Economics and it is missing two chapters that we cover which are in Principles.  This version will be referred to as Essentials. We will also cover two chapters from Mankiw (2019) Macroeconomics, 10th Edition, Worth (again, older editions are fine (I happen to have a copy of the 7th edition), but all chapter numbers refer to the 10th edition). Hereafter referred to as Macro.
