Description

To understand the principles of investment theories, corporate and project financing decisions and opportunities. One of the goals of the course to discuss capital market equilibrium, the relationship of risk and return. Students get to know the basic concepts of capital market efficiency and derivatives. The course provides an overview of the theory of corporate and project financing and the elements of financial planning. The course introduces the main corporate and project financing instruments, markets and institutions, analyses and indicators, and reviews corporate loan products and the fundamentals of the lending process.

Learning outcomes

"Investments and Financing" explains the essential characteristics of financial markets from investment, derivative markets, and financing points of view. The course is divided into two parts. The course is divided into two main parts. In the first half, students are introduced to derivative markets and the processes of corporate risk management. In the second half, students gain an overview of the theory of corporate and project finance, as well as the elements of financial and business planning. The course presents the key financing instruments, markets, and institutions related to corporations and projects. It also covers corporate lending products and the basics of the lending process, as well as the fundamental principles of project finance. Intended Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students should be able to: Analyze financial investments from a risk-return point of view; Evaluate and appraise financing opportunities. Topics covered: Derivatives Forward and Futures Option market Corporate Risk Management The theoretical background of corporate financing in perfect and imperfect markets Corporate financial planning Corporate finance instruments and markets (equity finance, debt products, hybrid instruments) Fundamentals of commercial bank lending Financial distresses, work-outs Project financing

The current assessment and evaluation requirements of the ELTE GTK apply, which can be found on the GTK TH website under the student's level of training.
