- This course gives an introduction into the theory and practice of the European Union’s public policy, institutional and decision-making systems and their practical functioning, and the basics of interest representation mechanisms on EU level.

- 1. Course introduction 2. Objectives and milestones in European integration 3. The nature of the European Union; the nature of EU public policy 4. The European Union and its Member States 5. The Treaties (TEU, TFEU) and the ordinary revision procedure 6. Accession and withdrawal 7. The basics of EU law; basic principles in EU law-making 8. The European Council; the European Commission 9. The co-legislators: the Council (of the European Union) and the European Parliament 10. EU legislative procedures since the 1950s 11. The ordinary legislative procedure; the consent procedure 12. Legitimacy and democracy in the EU 13. The basics of the EU budget 14. EU external action and its institutions 15. The basics of EU interest representation
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- Each student will sit the end-of-semester written final exam. The grade of the final exam will be the final grade in the semester. The final exam covers all the topics discussed in class and/or in the above required readings. Students will receive detailed information, guidance and instructions regarding the final exam in the course of the semester, both in class and via CooSpace.
