István Varga Exam An online open book written exam will take place on May 18, 2026 or on one of the subsequent days as agreed in the lecture with the students Date and Venue 1st Block: March 24 thru 26, 4pm-7pm each day in the Pázmány Room; 2nd Block: May 14, 2pm-4pm and 4pm-7pm in the Pázmány Room; 3d Block: May 15, 10am-1pm and 2pm-6pm in the Pázmány Room. Topics/Contents 1st Block (Prof. Berger) Introduction to the origins, basic concepts, sources and current problems of European civil procedural law: International jurisdiction, international judicial assistance, mutual recognition and enforcement of Member States judgments, insolvency proceedings and other relevant proceedings covered by the regulations of the EU. 2nd Block (Dr. Pabst) Deepening the knowledge acquired in the 1st Block by means of a comparative analysis of the jurisdictional regimes of the Brussels-Ia and the Brussels-IIb Regulations as interpreted in the case law of the European Court of Justice. 3rd Block (Prof. Varga) Scientific foundations and practical use of comparative civil procedure with the aim of handling practical problems in cross-border civil litigation and arbitration. Problems include comparative jurisdictional law, comparison between judiciaries and remedial systems, comparative evidence law, each dealt with on the basis of recently closed or ongoing cases.
