Oktatás célja

This course provides an overview of the legal framework governing international economic relations and cross-border business activities. It introduces the core concepts, principles, and sources of international economic and business law, and examines the role of legal institutions and dispute settlement mechanisms at the global and regional levels. Particular attention is given to the practical application of legal rules affecting international business.

1. Introduction to international business law: subject matter, sources, actors, and institutions 2. Forms and levels of international economic cooperation and integration 3. Harmonization and unification of international business law: universal and regional approaches 4. International commercial contracts and international sales, including the CISG 5. Incoterms 6. Carriage of goods 7. Cargo insurance 8. Private international law in cross-border business relations: jurisdiction, applicable law, and recognition and enforcement of decisions 9. Dispute settlement in international business, with emphasis on international commercial arbitration

Számonkérés és értékelés

Regular attendance is required; students may miss up to two classes per semester. Assessment will consist of one of the following, subject to the lecturer’s approval: a written examination, a 3,000-word written paper, or an oral presentation delivered in class on a topic chosen by the student.
