- The FDI Moot is an international moot court competition focusing on investor-State disputes. This preparatory course, after a basic introduction to the history, principles and legal sources of international investment law, will discuss several issues concerning international investment agreements, concept of protected investor, notion of investment, standards of protection, compensation, damages, dispute resolution and arbitration. The course will be practice oriented, therefore it will be focusing on the practical aspects of international investment law and arbitration. The course materials include compulsory readings and case law materials. The outline of the issues to be covered during the classes is the following: 1. Introduction to International Investment Law 2. International Investment Agreements 3. The Scope of Application of International Investment Agreements 4. Standards of Protection 5. Restitutions, Damages, Compensation 6. Dispute resolution, investment arbitration
- Course content
- Working method: Students are expected to read the material in advance and discuss it in class. The materials can be downloaded from the e-learning (Moodle) site of the course. All students should read the material carefully beforehand and be prepared to explain it and comment on it.
