Title Introduction to the Hungarian Substantive Criminal Law Lecturer(s): Contact email address: Dr. habil. István Ambrus PhD associate professor ambrus.istvan@ajk.elte.hu Brief description At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain basic principles of Hungarian Criminal Law; work with information on occurred criminal cases; make reasoned decisions about criminal liability, sanctions and practice; make deductions based on acquired knowledge of the Hungarian Criminal legislation; interpret legal decisions in criminal procedure. Schedule Historical Background. The General Background of the Hungarian Criminal Law, Criminal Justice and Criminal Science. Substantive Criminal Law. General Principles of Criminal Liability. Justification, Excuse and Other Grounds for Impunity Inchoate Offences, Parties to Criminal Offences. Concurrence of Offences The Sanctioning System Classification and Survey of Criminal Offences Presentations Materials/Recommended readings K. Karsai, Zs. Szomora: Criminal Law in Hungary.
