- Course content
- Building on the linguistic knowledge acquired in the BA in Text Linguistics, the course focuses on some current and interdisciplinary aspects of linguistic research in digital communication. After an introduction to the general features of digital communication, the course will first focus on theoretical issues: the definability of digital communication texts in terms of traditional text or the need for a new concept of text; the norms of digital communication in the light of traditional linguistic norms; the problem of digital communication and linguistic variation; digital communication and multimodality. In a second step, the focus will be on a linguistic approach and description of platforms, forms and text types of digital communication. In addition, the online corpus of texts of digital communication and their usability in linguistic research will be presented.
