- The course can serve as a chronological preparation for the courses offered in the field of 20th century Hungarian history. The course is based on the newest study-book on 19th century Hungarian social history (by György Kövér). Demography, spatiality, stratification, mobility, nation building (cultural history and mentality, history of political participation) are the basic issues of the meetings. The course provides insight into the past of those processes that influence the life of today's people in Hungary. As a matter of fact, the course can serve as a preparation for the chronological courses offered in the field of 20th century Hungarian history.

- The course is based on the newest study-book on 19th century Hungarian social history (written by György Kövér). Demography, spatiality, stratification, mobility, nation building (cultural history and mentality, history of political participation) are the basic issues of the meetings. - 1. Visiting the classes 2. Preparation for the classes (e.g. having questions concerning the chapter read) 3. Moderate the discussion 4. Group presentation - Requirement 1 means regular attendance (up to three absences) and active participation in class discussions; - Requirement 3 requires that for each lesson one (or more) student(s) prepare(s) to lead the lesson by posing provocative questions, pointing out points for discussion, reflecting on other students, while encouraging their fellow students to actively participate through questions and points. - Requirement 4: Depending on the number of participants, at the beginning of the course, three or four small groups of 2-4 students will form to explore a topic in depth and present it in one of the last two sessions, using the skills acquired during the course.
